21/08/2014

Bruce Allan, Construction & Operations Director at Wind Prospect discusses the importance of early stage ground investigation and understanding what lies beneath.

Ground conditions are often uncertain and pose a risk to any construction project. It is important that this unknown quantity and its implications are understood in order to identify potential risks, and be prepared for when unforeseen ground conditions arise.

Today 4,494 wind turbines are sited across the length and breadth of the UK, from the rural Highlands of Scotland to the Fens of Norfolk. Each locality brings with it its own unique ground characteristics and challenges for the team tasked to get the turbines spinning.
