The Dorper Wind Farm (100MW nominal) is one of 8 Wind Energy Independent Power Producers (IPP's) officially disclosed by South Africa's Energy Minister Dipuo Peters on the 7th December 2011.

The Dorper Wind Farm has been developed by Rainmaker Energy with its partners. Roughly R 2 billion will be invested in the project and final equity partners in the 100MW Dorper Wind Farm include Sumitomo Corporation, Dorper Wind Development (Rainmaker Energy's Dorper Wind Farm investment company), and Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment partners, including a community trust.

Situated in the Eastern Cape, in the Queenstown region, Rainmaker has environmental approval for over 500MW of wind power, and the Dorper Wind Farm would be the first 100MW of this project. Dorper Wind Farm is characterised by a good wind resource, which is also more prevalent in winter, thus complementing South Africa's energy needs.
