Booltiagh Wind Farm is a joint venture between SWS Energy and DP Energy. Wind Prospect are the project managers of the windfarm construction including the 110 kV substation. The site is located 15 km West of Ennis in County Clare and will see 13, 1.5MW turbines installed.
The project is being constructed as a multi-contract with GE Wind supplying the turbines, Areva T&D providing the electrical works and Michael Eustace Civil Engineering performing the civil works.
The site is of interest as it is the first 110 kV substation to be built by a developer who has not used ESB as the main contractor.
