Planning approval has been given by the District Council of
Grant for an 18 turbine (54MW) wind farm at Green Point, in
South Australia's South Eastern region, adjacent to the Victorian
border. The site is on farmland 15 kms east of Port McDonald.
Green Point Wind Farm will consist of 18 wind turbines, together
with an underground electrical cable network, access tracks,
crane hard standings, a wind monitoring mast, a small switchgear
building and yard and site signage. The wind farm will have
an installed capacity of around 54MW, dependent on the final
specifications of the turbines chosen for the project.
The average annual energy yield from Green Point is expected
to supply the electricity requirements of around 27,000 average
South Australian homes.
