The proposed Rusholme development is for twelve 2MW (24MW) wind turbines that will provide clean green energy to meet the equivalent needs of over 14,500 homes. This would prevent approximately 68,000 tonnes of harmful CO2 being discharged into the atmosphere every year.

The site is in the parish of Newland with the nearest turbine being approximately 2km east of the village of Drax and approximately 1km northwest of the village of Airmyn. Each turbine’s hub would be at a height of 60m with 40m long blades (no greater than 100m total height).

An Information Day was held on Wednesday 27th of August 2003 at Drax Village Hall, which was very well attended. Local residents had the opportunity to find out more about the proposed project as well as wind energy in general. A second exhibition will be held soon, to illustrate how the wind farm would look from a number of local viewpoints and the detailed plans.
