The Hallett Wind Farm development is Wind Prospect's sixth
wind farm development in South Australia. It consists of 160
wind turbine generators in the general farming zone of South
Australia's Mid North region, together with an underground
electrical cable network, access tracks, crane hardstandings
and several wind monitoring masts.
On 22 November 2004, the Northern Areas Council and Regional
Council of Goyder carried motions to grant Provisional Development
Plan Consent for 130 of the then proposed turbines. These
turbines are part of the Brown Hill Range Wind Farm, The Bluff
Range Wind Farm, Willogoleche Hill Wind Farm and Hallett Hill
Wind Farm.
The wind farm was made known to the local community by way
of newsletters, press releases and a public exhibition held
by Wind Prospect at the Hallett Hall in Hallett, on Friday
17th October, 2003. From there, a planning application was
submitted to the Regional Council of Goyder and Northern Areas
Council, with decisions made on the individual clusters in
November 2004.
