The largest cluster of the Hallett
Wind Farm development, Brown Hill Range, has received Provisional
Development Plan Consent and will consist of 45 turbines.
The turbines will be situated on land predominantly used for
grazing.
AGL Power Generation (Brown Hill) Pty Ltd, a wholly owned
subsidiary of the Australian Gas Light Company, now owns the
Brown Hill Range Wind Farm. Construction is expected to commence
in mid-2006. More details are available here.
The clean, green energy from the turbines will contribute
to an overall reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 1,121,280
tonnes per year, while supplying 192,000 houses in the area
with the electricity required for their average domestic needs.
