With the extensive experience Wind Prospect have gained onshore,
we have turned offshore and set up SeaScape Energy Ltd. SeaScape
Energy was established with enXco A/S, owned by SIIF Energies.
SeaScape Energy's first offshore project is the Burbo Offshore
Wind Farm, to be located in Liverpool Bay 6km from the coastline
of Wirral, Crosby and Liverpool.
Burbo Offshore will consist of 30 turbines, each capable
of producing 3MW of electricity. This means Burbo Offshore
can generate up to 90MW of clean, renewable energy for the
next 25 years. That's enough electricity for over 75,000 homes
or 12% of all the houses in Merseyside.
As well as providing electricity, Burbo Offshore will help
tackle the problem of global warming. The wind farm will reduce
the emission of carbon dioxide by as much as 250,000 tonnes
per year. Burbo Offshore also reduces nitrous oxide emissions,
one of the key components of acid rain, by 950 tonnes per
year.
Burbo Offshore received all necessary consents on the 14th
July 2003, following a successful application to the Government
back in October 2002. Construction is expected to start in
2005, with the wind farm generating electricity at the end
of the same year.
