New Office in Singapore

01/07/2011

Wind Prospect is delighted to announce the opening of its first office in Singapore. The new base will provide a superb location from which to deliver development expertise and consultancy services for renewable energy investments across the South East Asian and South Asian regions; enabling a strong proposition as a local, reliable and cost-effective partner.

Wind Prospect already has a formidable presence in Australia having consented an enviable 1.1GW with 1.4GW in the pipeline. This huge contribution to Australia’s energy targets gives Wind Prospect the reputation as the most successful independent wind energy developer in the Southern hemisphere.

In Asia, Wind Prospect has conducted a range of activities that includes: owner’s engineers work in the Philippines; performed wind monitoring programmes in Thailand; wind resource assessments in Thailand and Malaysia; and the development of the 200MW Hong Kong offshore wind farm.

Kam Ho heads up the new Singapore operation and will be servicing existing and future clients ranging from banks, investment funds, independent power producers, developers and wind turbine manufacturers. He will utilise Wind Prospect’s practical experience gained through developing wind and solar projects around the world, to offer clients quality advice throughout the project lifecycle.
Kam said:

“Singapore is a financial hub and ideally positioned to serve both emerging and more established Asian markets. Exciting renewable energy policies and targets in these dynamic markets make this a fantastic opportunity. We hope to play a positive role in the growth of Asia’s renewable energy industry.”

Singapore is home to many key players in the renewables market including GE Energy, Vestas Asia-Pacific, Gamesa Asia-Pacific, Siemens Wind Power, Standard Chartered Bank and Deutsche Bank. In addition to this extensive industry presence, there is a substantial amount of finance in Singapore looking to provide funds/loans to renewable energy projects across the Asia Pacific region.

The new business intends to aid delivery of ambitious renewable energy targets in India, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines via services and consultancy throughout the renewable energy project lifecycle. Key focus areas include development services, wind and solar resource, pre-construction and construction support, and technical due diligence.
Wind Prospect is already becoming a prominent presence in the Asian renewable industry and will be presenting at both the Renewable Energy World Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September and the Clean Energy Expo Asia 2011 in Singapore in early November, with Alex Tancock, Adrian Oakey and Kam Ho slated to give talks.
