The Role
|
|
An exciting opportunity to participate in the growth of the Wind Prospect Group, one of the UK's leading wind energy businesses. Wind Prospect has built, or is contracted to build, 95 wind farms across the UK, Ireland and Australia, and provides wind resource and energy yield analysis services to a wide variety of clients, and for its own development portfolio. With increasing demand for its services, the Wind Prospect wind resource team is seeking an enthusiastic, self-starting individual who can undertake wind resource and energy yield assessments for planned wind farm sites across the world.
Reporting to the Wind Services Team Manager, the candidate will be based in Bristol, UK.
Depending on the skills and experience of the individual, duties would include:
• Selection and procurement of wind measurement equipment
• Liaison with subcontractors
• Monitoring and maintenance of wind measurement equipment
• Assistance with installation of wind monitoring equipment
• Site visits (UK and abroad) to assess structural integrity of measurement masts
• Analysis of recorded wind data
• Wind resource and energy yield analysis of projects, including:
o Review and cleaning of site recorded wind data
o Undertake wind flow modelling for wind and energy predictions
o Production of energy yield values, losses and uncertainties
• Reporting of results and conclusions to a very high technical level
• Assistance to other Group businesses as required
• General engineering support to the Group's businesses, including Wind Direct Ltd and Wind Prospect Ltd |

The Candidate
|
|
As a minimum, the candidate will possess:
• Education to degree level or equivalent with excellent knowledge of fluid mechanics
• Experience or dedication to renewable energy or environmental engineering
• Excellent IT skills (Word/Excel)
• Good project management skills
• Organised, thorough and diligent
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willing to travel for project requirements
• Full driving licence
The ideal candidate shall have the following additional skills/qualifications:
• 1+ years direct experience in wind resource assessment
• Experience of working with measurement equipment
• Experience of setting up wind monitoring equipment
• Experience in the use of any of the following
o WindPro, Windfarmer, WAsP, WindSim or Meteodyn
• Knowledge of current wind resource and energy yield calculation methodologies and best practices
• Knowledge of site conditions calculations, methodologies and best practices Theoretical or working knowledge of CFD would be advantageous
• Fluency in one or more European languages in addition to English would be advantageous. |

The Salary
