David Groves, Director, Wind Prospect
David established Wind Prospect’s European Advisory and Wind Resource consultancy services business in 2004. He then went on to lead the establishment of Wind Prospect’s French subsidiary in 2007 to undertake advisory work across France. More recently David has overseen the launch and development of Wind Prospect’s South African business. He is continuing to expand the business across Europe and also acts as expert advisor to external clients, providing advice in respect of projects across Europe and Africa.
David’s specialisms include wind turbine contract negotiations, due diligence of projects and portfolios, and power purchase agreements. He has worked on many wind energy projects, ranging from sub-MW schemes to the 347.5MW Fantanele wind farm in Romania for which he developed the balance of plant contract.
Before joining Wind Prospect in 2003, David spent four years with the renewable energy team at E.On. During this time David directed the construction of Askam, Tursillagh and Deucheran Hill wind farms, and managed the development of others in the UK and Ireland. Prior to working in the renewable energy team David spent two years developing combined heat and power projects for E.On.
Dipak Haria, Associate Director Infrastructure & Structured Project Finance, Barclays Corporate
Dipak is an Associate Director within the Renewable & Natural Resources Project Finance team in Barclays Corporate (the corporate banking division of Barclays Bank PLC). He is involved in originating, structuring and executing project financing for the funding of energy projects and acquisitions in the UK and Ireland as well as providing structuring support to Barclays teams within Europe.
Dipak has experience of working with sponsors and developers for the financing of projects across a wide range of sub-sectors within renewable energy including onshore wind, landfill gas, biomass and hydro. In particular he has been involved in the financing of the first UK Offshore Transmission (OFTO) projects, structuring and syndication of a renewable energy portfolio including wind and landfill gas, as well as leading funding negotiations on a multi-jurisdiction portfolio of onshore wind farms.
As well as the renewable energy space, Dipak is also involved in PFI/PPP and infrastructure funding at Barclays with a specific focus on the waste and transport sectors.
Tom Murley, Director, Head of Renewables, HgCapital
- Tom leads the RPP team and supports the team with his deep industry and legal expertise as well as deal experience
- He is responsible for the investment strategy and sits on the Investment Committee
- He chairs the British Venture Capital and Private Equity Association’s committee on Sustainable Energy, Environment and Technologies and sits on Economics and Markets Committees of the British and Swedish Wind Energy Associations.
Tom joined HgCapital in 2004 as head of the renewable energy team. He has more than 18 years' experience in providing equity finance to the US and European power sectors. Tom was formerly co-head of Allianz Private Equity's renewable energy team. And prior to that he worked at EIF Group, the first private equity fund manager for the power generation industry. He was also general counsel of a renewable energy company and worked as a lawyer in Boston and New York for 8 years, focusing on M&A and finance.
Tom has degrees from Northwestern University and Fordham University School of Law.
Colin Aimers, Director, Wind Prospect
Colin Aimers joined Wind Prospect in 2002 having worked with Directors Euan Cameron and Bruce Allan on a number of wind farm projects since 2000.
Since 2002, Colin is responsible for the civil engineering technical affairs of Wind Prospect Group's UK portfolio of business. With a wide variety of technical and specialist staff, they conduct; civil, structural and environmental design, geotechnical investigations during preconstruction and construction phases of a project for a variety of clients. The team also provide support to a range of internal and external development clients, providing technical advice and engineering design for a variety of projects prior to planning consents being granted.
Paul Stangroom, Wind Resource Manager, Wind Prospect
Paul Stangroom joined the commercial and advisory team in May 2008 to take responsibility for expanding the wind resource and energy yield assessment services.
Paul's primary background is in CFD, stemming from a PhD in CFD modelling of wind flow over terrain. Paul has helped to develop Wind Prospect's methods for wind resource assessments as well as growing the commercial side of this work in globally.
Paul finished his PhD at Nottingham University in 2004, which had been sponsored by PowerGen. This was what first got him into the renewable energy sector. Paul then moved into engineering consultancy at Frazer-Nash where he worked on a range of projects across numerous sectors.
Paul then went on to work as a consultant with Prospect Flow Solutions, a design and analysis company, where he worked on a number of engineering projects for the oil industry, before moving into a more business development type role out of Stavanger in Norway.
Ari Liddell, Engineering Team Manager, Wind Prospect
Ari joined Wind Prospect in 2007 and now leads the Advisory Services Engineering Team with a focus on technical due diligence, turbine contract negotiations, feasibility studies and operational performance assessments. The team is active across a number of markets with a depth of experience in the UK and eastern Europe and has recently expanded into new markets including South Africa.
Prior to joining Wind Prospect Ari spent over five years with Garrad Hassan, two years of which were based in the US, where her responsibilities included wind resource assessment, technical due diligence, and the development and marketing of the WindFarmer software.
Ari is a chartered mechanical engineer, and, when not for Wind Prospect, uses her extensive understanding of the wind for her sailing.
Bruce Allan, Construction Director, Wind Prospect
Bruce Allan is a professional civil engineer with over 25 years of construction experience covering large multi disciplined civil engineering, building and nuclear projects.
Bruce joined Wind Prospect shortly after its conception having spent the previous year and a half working with founders Euan Cameron and Colin Palmer project managing the construction of the Siddick and Oldside wind farms in West Cumbria and the Crockahenny project in Co. Donegal in Ireland.
Bruce became directly involved in the operation management and construction of Wind Prospect projects in UK and Ireland. In 1999 he became Construction and Operations Director building teams in Cumbria and Ireland in order to service an ever increasing work load and client base.
Ian Wood, Assistant Director, Ernst & Young
Ian joined Ernst and Young in 2007 after spending six years providing financial advice for project finance transactions.
Ian has experience of running competitive tender processes and has advised on the structuring and raising of equity and debt for renewable energy transactions. He advised on the disposal of Tullo, Craigengelt, Little Raith and Mynydd-y-Betws consented wind farms. Ian advised Terra Firma on their subsidiary’s (Infinis) acquisition of Ardrossan wind farm, advised Peel Holdings on the project financing of a wind farm, and advised SeaEnergy PLC on the disposal of its subsidiary SeaEnergy Renewables Limited.
Ian McCarlie, Partner, McGrigors
Ian is a partner in the UK energy team at McGrigors. He has extensive experience of acting for developers, stakeholders and funders in the renewables and alternative energy sectors across the United Kingdom and Ireland advising on joint ventures, project acquisitions and development, fund raising and project construction, procurement and financing. |
