Biography:

Duncan joined Wind Prospect Africa in April 2016 as General Manager from RES Southern Africa, where he took a leading role in South Africa’s REIPPPP Round 3 and 4 commercial negotiations with investors, lenders, technical advisors, construction and turbine supply contractors. He also successfully managed the development of the 140MW REIPPPP Round 4 Oyster Bay wind project from initiation through to preferred bidder status and provided development services to financial close.


Duncan is currently serving his second term on the Board of the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) to represent the wind industry, provide strategic direction and perform constitutional governance.


Duncan, who holds a BEng and an MSc, has worked for engineering advisor AEA and BWEA (British Wind Energy Association) prior to supporting the African industry as part of RES.

Biography:

Ken joined Wind Prospect as Managing Director of the Irish business. A qualified electrical engineer, Ken has over 20 years of experience in the power generation business with the last 13 years spent in the wind industry. Ken will use this experience to guide the Irish business through a period of growth while maintaining the existing high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Biography:

Kathryn joined Nevis Environmental in 2015, her background is in Marine Science as well as business development and strategy. She studied Oceanography at the University of Southampton, and Marine Bio-technology at Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh.

She has founded and run her own marine bio-technology business, consulted for various small business, and has worked in knowledge exchange, creating links between businesses and all of Scotland’s universities, particularly those in the Highlands.

Kathryn leads the Nevis Environmental multi-disciplinary team which includes environmental consultants and management specialists. The team has extensive local knowledge enabling them to advise clients about the most efficient way to comply with conditions placed upon them during the planning stage.

Biography:

Alex joined the legal team in May 2010 as interim group legal counsel to cover a maternity leave. He was asked to stay with the company and is now head of the legal team. Alex is responsible for all legal matters across the group, supervision of the legal team and the provision of secretarial services. Prior to joining, Alex was head of legal at a financial services company, and legal counsel at Orange.

Biography:

 Achim Hoehne is Director of both Wind Prospect Ltd (UK) and Wind Prospect Africa Pty Ltd (South Africa).


 With an electrical engineering background, Achim has been working in the renewables sector for 25 years. He acted in a variety of roles including developer/owner/operator, construction project manager, independent engineer/consultant, policy adviser, investment banker, equity provider and strategy adviser.


After years in wind farm development in Germany, Achim spent 6 years running PB Power’s wind team in Australia/New Zealand, then moved to Pacific Hydro leading their Wind Services team. Achim moved to Macquarie Capital in London where he was closely involved in transaction advisory and developing projects in South Africa, then to ABO Wind to manage various international development businesses.


Since joining Wind Prospect in 2012, he has been heading the Advisory and Energy Resource Services business as well as Wind Prospect’s African business.

Biography:

Wind Prospect’s Managing Director (Asia Pacific), Michael Vawser, has extensive experience in the wind energy industry: beginning with a Masters in Electrical Engineering (researching the grid connection impacts of renewable energy) from 1993 to 1996; and then onto a career with Wind Prospect in the UK from 1997.


He carried out the role of Engineering Manager, which entailed not only the development of wind energy sites both onshore and offshore, but also a project management role in the construction and operation of several wind farms both in the UK and Ireland. While in the UK, Michael carried out considerable research into the wind energy potential in Australia, and after several productive trips back and forth to Australia, established Wind Prospect in Australia in 2000, for which he was appointed Managing Director.


Michael has overseen the achievement of over 850 MW of council approvals for wind farms in South Australia, of which 510 MW has been built or are under construction. Michael has also overseen the establishment of subsidiary wind energy companies / branch offices in Brisbane, Newcastle (Aus), Melbourne, Hong Kong, Beijing and Wanaka (NZ), as well as a sustainable property development company in Adelaide.
